Before you write
A few things that fix the most common reports without us needing to step in.
Wombow for PC (Windows)
Windows says it “protected your PC” and won't run the installer
- Click More info in the blue box, then Run anyway. That's it.
- This is Windows SmartScreen reacting to an app it hasn't seen downloaded many times yet — it is about popularity, not safety, and it fades as more people install Wombow. Your browser may ask you to confirm the download for the same reason.
- Want to check the file is the one we published? In PowerShell, run
Get-FileHash .\WombowSetup-<version>.exeand compare it with the SHA-256 on the download page.
Wombow can't see my game
- Most games work as they are, fullscreen included. A few have an exclusive fullscreen mode that hands the screen entirely to the game, so nothing else — not Wombow, not OBS — can read it. Wombow tells you when it hits this.
- If that happens, set that game to Borderless (Windowed Fullscreen) and start watching again.
- On a multi-monitor setup, pick the right screen in Settings → Capture → Display.
- Ctrl+Alt+W toggles watching from inside the game, so you never have to alt-tab.
Wombow isn't talking
- Check Settings → Voice → Mute first — easy to leave on.
- Try a different Voice source. “Cloud neural voice” is ours and needs a connection; “Free cloud voice (Edge)” is Microsoft's; “Windows voice (free)” runs on your machine and always works offline.
- Silence during quiet stretches is deliberate — Wombow speaks when there's something worth saying. Turn Pace up in Settings → Companion if you want more chatter, or check whether Quiet mode or Standby (chat-only) is on.
The local (free) model won't start, or it's very slow
- The free tier runs an AI model on your own graphics card. A dedicated GPU with 8 GB+ of video memory gives good results; integrated graphics will struggle.
- The model downloads once and is a few gigabytes — let it finish before starting a session.
- No suitable GPU? Switch Settings → Model → Model source to the cloud tier and everything runs on our servers instead.
It repeated itself, or said something odd
- Hover the message and click the small flag to report it. That comes straight to us with just that one line — never your screen.
- Local models are smaller than cloud ones and do repeat more. If it's spoiling a session, switch to the cloud tier for that game.
- If it has picked up something wrong about you, clear it in Settings → System → What Wombow remembers about you.
The desktop pet is in the way
- It hides itself automatically when a window goes fullscreen on the same screen, and it never takes focus or clicks.
- Drag it anywhere, or switch it off entirely in Settings → Capture → Desktop pet.
Subscription / payment trouble (PC)
- PC subscriptions are billed through Stripe, not Apple. Manage or cancel from the billing portal under Settings → Account.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal; the plan keeps working until the period you already paid for ends.
- Charged for something you didn't expect, or it wouldn't run on your machine? Write to support@wombow.com — a human reads it.
- Subscriptions bought on iPhone and on PC are separate purchases through separate stores. Signing in with the same account on both keeps your history together, but a plan bought in one place does not transfer to the other.
I want to delete everything (PC)
- Chats, session history, and preferences live in
%AppData%\Wombow. Highlight screenshots live inPictures\Wombow Highlights. - Uninstall from Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Wombow for PC. The uninstaller asks whether to delete that local data or keep it.
- To erase what the server holds as well, write to privacy@wombow.com.
Wombow for iPhone
Wombow isn't hearing me
- Open Settings → Wombow on your iPhone. Make sure Microphone, Camera, and Speech Recognition are all on.
- If you're wearing AirPods, route TTS to the AirPods + microphone to the phone (the iPhone's Control Center has the audio destination toggle).
- Wombow pauses listening while it's speaking to you — that's intentional. Once it stops, the mic re-opens within a second.
Wombow stays silent during my game
- Mode B silence is by design — Wombow only speaks when there's something worth saying. If nothing's happening on screen, the silence is correct behavior, not a bug.
- If you haven't said anything in 45-90 seconds (depending on the game), Wombow will proactively chime in with an observation. That's the "idle break" — let it play out before assuming it's broken.
- If you want more chatty commentary, try switching the persona to "buddy" in Settings → Persona.
Subscription / payment trouble (iPhone)
- Subscriptions and Passes bought on iPhone are managed through Apple, not us. Open Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions to view, change, or cancel.
- If you bought a Wombow Pro or Max subscription on one device but don't see the perks on another, make sure both devices are signed into the same Apple ID.
- Refund requests go through reportaproblem.apple.com — Apple handles them, not us.
Watch Party (SharePlay) isn't connecting
- Both phones need to be on the same FaceTime call or Messages thread.
- Both phones need iOS 17 or later.
- Whoever starts the session is the host — the others see "Listening to host" and don't open their own cameras.
I want to delete everything
- Open Wombow → Settings → Privacy → Clear conversation memory to wipe the server-side memory.
- The Notebook lives entirely on your phone — use Notebook → … → Clear all entries to nuke it.
- Uninstalling Wombow deletes both. We can't recover it after that.
I want a copy of my data
Open Wombow → Settings → Export everything. You'll get a JSON file with your Notebook entries, usage counters, and preferences. It lives only on your device unless you choose to share it.
